Insurance Journal TV recently featured Jeff Smith, the Vice President of Operations for Alandale Insurance, along with Tim Sawyer, in their eMarketing Minute. The video, entitled “Using Philanthropy as a Marketing Tool,” focused on Alandale’s awesome fundraising and marketing campaign. Alandale is a California insurance agency located in Los Alamitos that specializes in auto, home, business, and life insurance. Since signing on with Astonish in February 2010, the agency has learned to take advantage of any marketing opportunities they can to grow their business and establish their brand.
The campaign that Alandale organized not only benefited the community, it was also a helpful brand building tool for the agency, and it filled their Virtual Profit Center with tons of new leads. Jeff explains the details of the campaign in the video. Basically, the agency created separate landing pages for several local charities; then their fundraising teams contacted their databases of past contributors and prompted them to visit the landing page and get an insurance quote from Alandale. For every quote received, $20 would be donated to the specific charity. If the prospect actually bought a policy, another $20 was donated. This strategy put Alandale’s brand in front of databases full of local prospective clients. Jeff got his staff involved and excited about the campaign by allowing them to choose the local charities. This genius marriage of digital marketing and philanthropy put Alandale on the map in their California community.
